City Audit Office |
Martin Kolkin, |
Welcome to the City of Sacramento's Office of the City Auditor's Website. The Office of City Auditor is responsible for independent oversight of City's operations. The City Auditor reports to the City Manager with access to the City Council, and maintains organizational and operational independence from all other departments. The results of the audits are required to be formally presented to the City Manager and City Council.
With City of Sacramento's operating and capital budget of approximately $964 million in fiscal year 2008-09, the members of the Sacramento City Council need an effective and ongoing means to monitor the use of tax dollars. As an independent audit function, the Office of the City Auditor plays an integral role in oversight process.
City audits perform objective evaluations of the effectiveness of all City activities, operations, services, and programs, thereby ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures, state statues, and regulations.
Our audits are conducted in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book). We provide the City Manager, City Council, and the public with objective, timely, and accurate information about City's different operations. Findings and recommendations developed through the audit process helped save tax dollars, increase revenue, and improve the City's operations.
