These pages have been prepared to help guide you through the election process as a voter, as a potential candidate for office, and as a resident of the City of Sacramento. These web pages also provide information pertaining to potential and/or approved ballot measures.
Election Information & Dates:
June 8, 2010 Primary Election
- Nomination Period Opens: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 (Offices Closed Feb. 15-Presidents Day)
- Candidates may begin filing papers including
- Nomination Petition (20-30 valid signatures)
- Statement of Economic Interests Form 700
- Acceptance/Rejection of Public Financing
- Candidate Statement

- Materials are available free of charge at the City Clerk's Office (by appointment)
- Final Filing Day: Friday, March 12, 2010 by 5:00 pm at the City Clerk's Office
- If incumbent does not file by March 12, 2010, deadline for that office extends to
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 by 5:00 p.m.
- Last Day to Register - May 24, 2010
Charter Amendment Measure:
- Government Accountability and Charter Reform Measure of 2009 (Strong Mayor)
- Notice of Intent and Charter Amendment Initiative Text

- Ballot Title and Summary Text

- Petition signatures declared sufficient and accepted by City Council on August 6, 2009.
- Approved for placement on June 2010 ballot by City Council on August 6, 2009.
- Measure to be called to ballot in February 2010.

- Independent Budget Analyst Act of 2009

- Ballot Title and Summary Text

- Petition signatures declared sufficient and accepted by City Council on August 6, 2009.
- Report back on impacts and consideration for adoption by City Council August 18, 2009.
- Council workshop on September 8, 2009 to discuss and consider integration of Budget Analyst Office and new City Auditor Office
- Council to adopt ordinance or refer measure to be placed on June 2010 ballot.
