Mayor Kevin Johnson

Kevin Johnson

Mayor, City of Sacramento

In May of 2000, Kevin Johnson retired from the NBA after 12 seasons with the Phoenix Suns. He returned to his hometown of Sacramento, California to serve as the CEO of St. HOPE, a non-profit community development corporation he founded in 1989 designed to revitalize inner-city communities through public education, economic development, civic leadership and arts enrichment.

Kevin serves on the Board of Directors for LISC National, the CA Charter School Association, the UC Berkeley Foundation, the Institute of Governmental Studies National Advisory Council and the Harvard Divinity School SLI Advisory Board. His concern and compassion for children and education prompted President George Bush to honor Johnson with the 411th Point of Light.

The Mayor's Vision for Sacramento
Mayor Johnson's Action Plan for Sacramento pdf file

Sacramento has to be a city that works for everyone. I will make our streets safe by decreasing crime, putting more cops on the beat and addressing gang violence. I will ensure Sacramento is known and sought out for our great public schools. I will build a strong economy by attracting businesses and creating jobs in the city. I will make sure that our city government is run efficiently and is responsive to its residents.

Together, we will make this a city we can all take greater pride in. Together, we will make Sacramento "A City That Works for Everyone". Please join me in standing up for Sacramento.
