Entitlements

Checkmark When reviewing permit applications or plans, staff may find that, according to the City Zoning Code, a project may require an entitlement or discretionary reviews and approval. Common examples of entitlements include special permits, variances, plan reviews, or tentative maps. For example, a special permit is required to add a drive-thru to a restaurant, or to construct residential units within a commercial zone outside of the Central City area. And if that restaurant was within a design review district, a design review would be required as well.
