We cannot guarantee that the animals on our site are still available as they are frequently adopted. Please visit or call our shelter at 916-808-7387 to check on the status of the animal that you are interested in. For us to assist you, we will need the Animal ID. Our policy is that adoptions are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Animals must be spayed or neutered before they go home with an adopter. The surgery is performed the next available business day at the shelter. In these cases, the adopter will need to return to the shelter at the end of the day of the surgery to pick up his or her adopted pet.

If you have recently adopted a pet, we hope that you and your new family member will be very happy together. Unfortunately, though, a large majority of the animals come to us with unknown medical histories, and so a check-up with a veterinarian of your choice is a must. To insure the happy and healthy life of your newly adopted friend, we strongly urge you to have your pet examined routinely by a veterinarian. For more information, please read our article on Caring For Your Pet.
