Special Report on Older Adults

A Profile of Older Adults in Sacramento County is a comprehensive look at the life experience of residents age 60+ in our community. The report was developed by the County Adult and Aging Commission, with involvement by other agencies, including the City of Sacramento. Older Adults Services staff member Rosanne Bernardy was a member of both the project Steering Committee and its Advisory Committee.

The older adult population of Sacramento is expected to increase by 158% by the year 2040, including a 316% increase in the 85+ age group. The data provided in the Profile of Older Adults report provides a baseline of information as the community prepares for this huge demographic shift.

The report will be of interest to residents, both old and young, policymakers and service providers. It provides good, easy to understand information on the issues effecting the older population.
