Hart Fun Pass Program
What is the Hart Fun Pass?
The Hart Fun Pass is a voucher to be used to pay for participation in any fee-based recreation program or activity sponsored by the City of Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation. These programs range from art, writing and drama classes to computer instruction, a week-long camp in the Sierras, sports programs and much, much more!
Programs are offered at various locations throughout the city including several community centers and the Ethel Hart Senior Center in midtown Sacramento. A complete listing of program offerings can be found in the seasonal Department of Parks and Recreation - Recreation Magazine available at community centers and libraries throughout Sacramento. It is also available online at www.cityofsacramento.org/parksandrecreation
In general, a resident qualifying for the program may receive Fun Passes for two activities of series of classes each calendar year.
How is the Fun Pass Program funded?
Ethel MacLeod Hart left a generous donation to the City of Sacramento in the 1990’s for the “use, enjoyment and comfort of Sacramento seniors.” This donation was used to create the E.M. Hart Trust Fund. A portion of the trust fund has been used to establish the Fun Pass Program. Ensuring that all older adults have opportunities for fun is viewed as a fine way to carry on Mrs. Hart’s legacy.
Who can take part in the Hart Fun Pass Program?
Hart Fun Passes can be used by any resident of the City of Sacramento age 50+ who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in a recreation program. If you are unable to participate in a recreation program because of limited financial resources, the Hart Fun Pass Program is for you!
