The City Treasurer is a Charter Office appointed by the City Council. The office staff consists of nineteen professionals. Due to management fees collected, there is a zero net cost to the City for services provided by the Treasurer.
The Treasurer’s Office provides special consultant services to the City Council and City staff in areas of financing, economic development and special projects. Also, the Treasurer manages three business units:
- Investment Business Unit – Works directly with banks and brokerage houses to manage the investment of funds and cash flow for the City.
- Financing Business Unit – Has oversight and management responsibility for the $1.98 billion in outstanding indebtedness.
- Banking & Operations Business Unit – Responsible for over $11.7 billion of banking transactions, reporting, and banking service needs of the City.
