Commercial Garbage Services
The Department of Utilities Solid Waste Services offers three types of garbage service at competitive rates for Businesses and Multi-Family apartments/dwellings:

  • Toter Service: Toters are a good choice for properties that have space constraints or generate very little trash. They come in 3 sizes (32, 64 and 96 gallon) and can be collected up to 6 times per week (Monday - Saturday).
  • Bin Service: Bins, also known as dumpsters, are a good choice for small to large businesses or apartments that have multiple employees or tenants. Sizes range from 1 to 6 yard containers and collection is up to 6 times per week (Monday - Saturday).
  • Debris Box Service: Debris box service is called upon when bulky items and/or large amounts of waste are disposed. They are particularly useful for construction, manufacturing, garage cleanouts and the like. Box sizes range from 10 to 40 yards and can be collected up to 6 times per week (Monday - Saturday).

Commercial Recycling Services
Many businesses and apartment buildings in Sacramento are saving money on their garbage bill by recycling with us. The Department of Utilities Solid Waste Services provides a Commingled Recycling Service: that means no separating paper, plastic, metal or glass.  If it's recyclable, it goes into the recycling bin. It's that simple.

We offer three types of recycling containers:

Commercial Yard Waste Collection
Department of Utilities Solid Waste Services offers yard waste collection services for commercial properties.  Commercial yard waste collection is an optional service.  To find out more about this service or to sign-up for service, please contact us at (916) 808-4937.

Commercial Yard Waste Service Guidelines

  • Place yard waste material at curb by 6:00 AM.
  • Place yard waste material or container at least six feet from cars, utility poles, mailboxes, boats, garbage and recycling containers, and other obstructions.
  • Make sure gardeners know the collection schedule, how to place your container or pile and follow the guidelines.
  • Prune trees and shrubs so that they do not block City equipment form collecting garden refuse.
  • Refrain from pruning during leaf season.
  • Leaf Season: Due to the increase in yard waste material, City crews may be off schedule during leaf season (October through December). Call Customer Service at 311 or (916) 264-5011 for a schedule update.

Acceptable/Unacceptable Yard Waste Materials

Commercial Sweeping

Please follow these guidelines for Street Sweeping Service:

  • Do not park vehicles, boats, or trailers on the street on the scheduled street sweeping day.
  • Do not leave basketball hoops on the street on the scheduled street sweeping day.
  • Do not place garden refuse on the street on the scheduled street sweeping day.
  • Do not leave garbage or recycling containers on the street on the scheduled street sweeping day.
  • Prune trees and shrubs so that they do not block City equipment from providing street sweeping service.
  • Prune trees and shrubs back from fire hydrants.

Hazardous Waste Recycling
Are you a business who is a Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) of hazardous waste? If yes, you can call either location below to schedule an appointment to drop-off hazardous waste.  Fees will apply.

* By law, a CESQG is defined as a business that produces less than 220 pounds (approximately 27 gallons) of hazardous waste or 2.2 pounds of extremely hazardous waste per month.
