Illegal Dumping
Illegal dumping is a crime that is costly to the City and affects safety, property values, and quality of life. The City of Sacramento needs your help to stop illegal dumping.
Reporting Illegal Dumping
- If you witness illegal dumping in progress, note the license plate, vehicle make and model, and description of violator and immediately call the Sacramento Police non-emergency number at 264-5471.
- If the illegal dumping is not in progress call the City Operator at 311 or (916) 264-5011.
Reward
- A reward of $500 will be paid by the City of Sacramento to the person furnishing information to the authorities, which results in an arrest and conviction.
The Law
- Title 13, Chapter 13.10.200 of the City Code states: It is unlawful and a misdemeanor for any person in the city to throw or deposit any waste upon any street or other public way. Any person, firm or corporation violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not exceeding six months, or by both fine and imprisonment.
